One of the funnest things you will do during your wedding planning is your wedding registry! Many parts of wedding planning can be very stressful, but this serves as a good break from the stress and is especially fun for those who love to shop! Here are our best tips to building the best wedding registry:
1. Go Together
Some individuals may not be as excited about this part of wedding planning, but it’s important to do this together and get things that you will both enjoy. Pick a store or two and just walk around all the aisles and you are sure to find everything you need (maybe even things you didn’t think of)
2. Make it Fun!
If you partner is not excited about this part, make it fun! You can make a game out of it! See who can scan the most things in a certain amount of time or try a scavenger hunt type game!
3. Varying Price Points
Make sure that you have many different items of varying price points for your guests. Not everyone can afford expensive gifts so it’s important to have less expensive things for loved ones who still want to get you a gift but cannot afford a lot.
4. Don’t Wait
This is something that you can do as soon as you get engaged if you want. Don’t wait until the last minute so your guests have time to shop and buy you a wedding gift.
5. Get What You Want/Need
Don’t feel shy about what you want to put on your registry. Typical registries include a lot of kitchen items, but if that’s not something that’s important to you and your spouse, that’s okay! Feel free to add whatever you want, because it’s important to get things you will actually use. Also include gift cards on your registries as well for people who may be indecisive on what to get you.
6. In-Store/Online
It’s a good idea to have an in-store registry as well as an online one to give your guests options. Some loved ones may want to shop in person, while others prefer to just send the gift to your house through an online store. Give them options!
7. Consider Alternative Registry
If you already live with your partner and have most things that you need, it’s okay to do an “alternative” registry such as a honeymoon fund. There are many online funds you can use where your guests can buy you an “experience” as well so they don’t just feel like they are throwing cash at you.
8. Don’t Forget to Say Thank You!
Sending out thank you cards after your wedding for all your gifts is super important. You want to make sure your guests feel appreciated for what they got you. Make sure at your shower, parties, wedding, etc you have someone that is writing down who got what gift for you so you can thank them specifically for things!
