St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated as the anniversary of the death of the great Saint Patrick who was credited as bringing Christianity to the Irish people.
This day has many old and modern traditions that can serve as great inspirations for a wedding!
Irish Traditions
There are many Irish wedding traditions to incorporate such as handfasting. Handfasting is an ancient Celtic tradition that involved tying the hands of the couple together well in advance of their actual wedding day. It is similar to an engagement, a time when both parties decide if they really wish to commit. In Modern times the tradition occurs on the actual wedding day although in centuries past the ceremony acted as a kind of temporary marriage.
Everything Green
It’s no secret that one of the modern traditions of St. Patrick’s Day is wearing green! There are many great ways to incorporate this gorgeous color into your wedding.
