We are delighted to present the Black-Tie Table as part of our Design Gallery Series from the 2026 Happily Connected Wedding Showcase. Designed by Simply Southern Events, this striking tablescape features bold contrasts, refined details, and a modern black-tie aesthetic. We’re excited to share the elements and creative partners behind this stunning design.
Design Inspiration from Simply Southern Events
This design was created to embody a timeless black-tie aesthetic with a modern, editorial edge, blending bold contrast with refined, romantic details. The inspiration was drawn from classic formal events featuring black, white, and gold. This concept was elevated through intentional layering, clean lines, and dramatic variations in height to create a luxurious guest experience. The foundation of the design began with a black linen, setting a rich, moody base that immediately establishes a formal tone. This was paired with white coupe plates to create a striking contrast, allowing each place setting to feel crisp and elevated.
At each setting, guests were greeted with a custom black menu card featuring gold script, reinforcing the color palette and adding a personalized, upscale touch. The stationery served as both a functional element and a design feature, tying seamlessly into the overall aesthetic.
Gold flatware was selected to enhance the design’s warmth and complement the candlelight throughout the table. The place settings were finished with black napkins styled in a sculptural fold and presented in stemware, adding height, texture, and a fashion-forward detail that elevates the overall tablescape.
The centerpiece featured a gold geometric stand topped with a lush arrangement of white florals including roses and ranunculus, bringing softness and romance to balance the bold color palette. Surrounding the centerpiece, a mix of gold votive candles and black taper candles in gold holders created a layered glow, adding warmth and intimacy to the space.
Glassware was kept classic and clean to maintain the elevated feel while allowing the bolder elements, such as the napkins and metallic accents, to stand out.
Every element of this design was intentionally selected to create a cohesive look that feels luxurious, timeless, and effortlessly sophisticated, making it ideal for couples seeking a high-end black-tie wedding experience with a modern twist.
