Congratulations! Not only are you about to embark on an incredible marriage, but you’ve chosen to start it off at the most Magical Place on Earth.
Some Facts about Walt Disney World
Contrary to popular belief, most of the Disney World Resort lies in Bay Lake City rather than Orlando. Orlando is just a bigger, more well-known neighboring city. It also ranks as one of the cleanest American theme parks. This is due to the fact that Walt Disney designed the Parks so that nobody has to walk more than thirty steps to find a trash can. It is pretty impressive to know that Walt Disney World is made up of four theme parks: Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios.
Best times to Travel and Where to Stay
The best time to travel to Walt Disney World, if you’re thinking about crowds, is August and September. Around this time is when kiddos are heading back to school, and those who visit from “across the pond” have also completed their “holidays”, aka Vacations. Now, if you’re wondering about the weather, it can still be pretty hot in August and September, so late January or mid-May would be the next best times to visit. The crowds will be lower and the weather a bit more tame.
Once you get there, you’re probably wondering where you should stay. Well, at Walt Disney World, there are over 30 resorts exclusively owned and operated by the Walt Disney Company. They spread out over all 40 square miles of Disney World property. The thought of there being over 30 resorts can be overwhelming. But what it does offer is variety! There is a Resort for every budget and every occasion. I highly recommend staying on property, as the perks for doing so outweigh the savings you could have by staying off property. Some of these are free parking, early park access, resort-to-park transportation, and much more.
How long should you stay?
Well, once you spend a few days at Walt Disney World, you might want to stay forever! But I would suggest at least a full 7 nights. Since there are 4 parks, and I’m assuming you would want to go to all of them, 7 nights will also allow you to have a couple of rest days. You might have heard the phrase, “There is no tired like Disney tired.” Once you’ve experienced this, you’ll understand that rest days are imperative. There are plenty of things to do while on Disney property, even if you decide not to go to one of the theme parks. Honestly, you could probably spend up to two weeks on Disney property and still not see/do everything.
Is there a lot of planning that needs to happen before you go to Walt Disney World?
The short answer is, yes. After you’ve chosen the best resort for you to stay at and how many days you’re going to visit the Theme parks, now you have to think about dining! There are over 100 restaurants in Walt Disney World, and many of them require reservations prior to arrival. In fact, you can schedule your dining 60 days before you arrive. This could determine which park you go to on which day. Another thing to consider is if you’re going to go to one Park in a day or if you are going to add a Park Hopper, which would allow you to go to all of the Parks in one day. Or, you could just wing it! Though, I do not recommend that!
