Kate and Dustin’s wedding was a breathtaking celebration of love, beautifully blending whimsical celestial elements with a romantic forest vibe. Their dream day unfolded with a bohemian, celestial-inspired ceremony at the charming Chapel of Firefly Lane, followed by a magical reception in a glass hall aglow with twinkling lights and soft candles. To make the day even more unforgettable, they included falcons, owls, and a dove release from Wing Blade Falconry. Every detail, from the starry decor to the enchanting atmosphere, told a love story written “In the Stars.”

How Did The Two Of You Meet?
We initially met in 2006 when I was dating Dustin’s roommate! After many years had passed and the prior relationships were long over we reconnected over social media. Dustin reached out to me and asked me out on a date. I was so thrilled. I had always admired him and thought highly of him. Our first date was at Demos Restaurant in Murfreesboro. We both knew that night we are a match and have never been apart since.
Tell Us About Your Engagement!
We were on a trip to Chicago in 2021 around Thanksgiving and Dustin proposed our first night there after a night out on the bridge downtown.
I was surprised and over the moon!
Tell Us About Your Dress
I purchased my dress from The Dress Theory. The designer is Rue de Seine. I booked an appointment during a once a year sales event this designer has and my Mother and a friend came with me. When we arrived, to my surprise and joy, the lead designer, Michelle, from Rue de Seine herself was there at the appointment. It was a dream came true. I tried on a few gowns and love the Cactus Rose dress and the Mountain Song Veil, but wasn’t sure if they would clash since both were quite detailed and had color. Michelle encouraged me to try them on and when I came out in the dress and veil combo everyone cried. It was a magical experience that brings a tear to my eye now as I type this.
What Was Your Wedding Day Vision
My Vision was a celestial themed, our love was written in the stars vibe. I really wanted to capture how magical it is that in this huge universe Dustin and I found each other and it was like all of a sudden we were home and all was as it is meant to be.
Tell Us About Your Day
Our day was nothing short of perfection. The venue, The Chapel at Firefly Lane was gorgeous and the weather was perfect. The ceremony music and cocktails hour was provided by a string trio. The most exciting detail for most was Wing Blade Falconry. A barn owl was our ring bearer, we did a dove release at the conclusion of our ceremony, and the owl and other birds of prey were available with handlers for guests to take photos with. The owner of Wing Blade, Holly, also happens to be a songwriter and wrote  “Breathe” performed by Faith Hill. Holly performed the song for us later at our reception which was a touching gesture and just so beautiful. Really every moment was so special and all vendors did an extraordinary job!
Tell us why you chose Romance & Rust and your experience working with them.
I had a wonderful experience with Romance & Rust from start to finish. I highly recommend working with Romance & Rust. Kathy is professional, warm, and trustworthy. Working with her really brought my vision to life and made our Wedding Day so enjoyable. Without Romance & Rust our day would not have been the same. I’m so glad I did not DIY everything and worked with Kathy. She is a blessing!
From Kathy, Romance & Rust
It is our goal to make every event special and magical, reflecting our couple’s personality and telling their love story through design.  Kate and Dustin chose the style and feel they wanted for their wedding day, which she described as “whimsical celestial with a romantic forest vibe”.  The ceremony was held in the beautiful open-air Chapel of Firefly Lane, the perfect setting for their bohemian, celestial-inspired wedding theme.
The glass Reception Hall added to the magical ambiance with its floor-to-ceiling windows that reflected the candlelight and twinkling string lights above that mimicked a star-studded sky.  The Sweetheart Table was draped with luxurious star-embellished gold velvet to add a whimsical touch.  For the centerpiece, gold moon planters and assorted bottles held beautiful white blooms, black crescent moon stands held glass orbs with moss and fairy lights, and glass cylinders had submerged shimmering gold star garlands with floating candles.  Fairy lights were added to gold and glass lanterns for a magical glow.
Your details tell your story, and what a beautiful story this was to share!  Kate & Dustin’s enchanting day was most definitely “written in the stars”!
