Everyone at one point in their life has dreamed about their wedding. The location, the season, the color, the aesthetic. Then, one day, you get engaged, and you finally get to turn that dream into a reality. But where does the line between dream and reality lie? The answer is if there is a will, there is a way.

In the summer of 2022, a month before my lovely bride and groom tied the knot, I got a call from the bride who wanted to change the ceremony spot. The original plan was for the ceremony and reception to be held at the Deadwood Mountain Grand in Deadwood, South Dakota. The Deadwood Mountain Grand is a beautiful industrial venue that is attached to a big hotel. This venue is often used for big, well-known concerts, charity events, and weddings. Everything was planned to be inside the venue. Then I received a phone call. My bride and groom are architects living in San Francisco, and when they visited the venue one last time, they saw the park adjacent to them and loved the bridge! The bride had this fabulous idea to move the ceremony to that spot. Now, here was the tricky spot: the bride and groom had 200 RSVPs to this wedding, and I needed to do 3 things: one, find chairs, two, walk the bridge to figure out how to organize the layout of where the bridal party, officiant, DJ, the guests, and the lovely couple will go and three, get a permit.

First, I had to see about a permit; with a phone call to the Deadwood Parks department, I got the answer I needed to move forward and get the permit. Then I had to find the chairs; the wedding was in August, in the middle of wedding season, which was going to be tricky! After a few phone calls, I managed to find outdoor folding ones that could be picked up that morning. Once I had the bones, I walked the bridge, and I knew I could make it work! The best way I was going to do this was to have the couple and officiant in the middle and have the wedding party seated on one side of the bridge and on the other all guests. Two chairs on both sides of the bridge to make the aisle big enough. The DJ was off the bridge on the side where he was hidden, but the music could be perfectly heard. After discussing with the bride, we moved forward with the plan.

The day of the wedding arrived, and everything was going according to plan. The ceremony turned out absolutely perfect. Everyone was gushing about how unique the ceremony spot was! The ceremony was filled with love, laughter, and bubbles! After the ceremony, the reception was the time of everyone’s life, with two photo booths and a DJ in a T-Rex costume. This wedding reminded me that no wedding dream is too small to accomplish.

Congratulations!
