One of the most important aspects of your wedding reception is your DJ! It’s crucial that you make sure they are prepared to make your wedding reception the best it can be! Here are some tips to do just that!
Communicate Your Wants/Needs
Make sure that your DJ/MC knows exactly what you are expecting on your wedding day. Don’t be afraid to schedule regular meetings and communicate with them frequently. It’s important to properly communicate everything that you are wanting and needing at your reception!
Provide a Song List (Play and Don’t Play)
It’s super important that you provide your DJ with a list of songs that you would like to play throughout the reception along with a song for each reception event (ex. bouquet toss, wedding party entrance, etc). It’s just as important to provide your DJ with a list of DO NOT play songs! There may be songs that you or your spouse do not want played and your DJ won’t know that unless you let them know!
Provide Timeline
Providing a timeline of the reception events can help your DJ prepare and keep things running smoothly throughout the night. This will help them to know when to play what and to keep everything moving.
Provide Names
Make sure to provide your DJ with all of the names in your wedding party if you want them to be announced along with you into the reception. It’s also a great idea to provide everyone’s names phonetically to ensure they are all being pronounced correctly!
Make Sure They Have the Hookup
It’s crucial that you check out your venue and where the DJ will be able to hookup their equipment. Communicate with your DJ and make sure that you understand all their technical needs to be able to provide the experience that you want. It would be a shame for them to get to the reception and not have the right area to plug their equipment into and have to rearrange your reception!
